SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORTS.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. 'file, annual secondary school championship sports were held yesterday afternoon on the Christ's College around, which was in good condition. The weather was ideal, the light nor'wester which was blowing being unable to cause much discomfort owing to the shelter afforded by the surrounding trees. There was a good attendance of the public, who were treated to some fine exhibitions, no fewer than live records being broken, and one equalled by two competitors. H. Lee (St. BedeV), who ran so well at the annual sports meeting of -that college recently, was in great form, establishing a' record for the 220 yds race of 23 l-ssec, the standard being 25sec. and doing 1-osec better in the J 00yds open than 11. 0. Talbot's record of two vears ago. W. Sherratt (Christ's College) boat the record of oft l£in in the high jump, held by A. E. Joseph (Christ's College) by 2-jin. In the high jump under 15, H. Dawson (Christ's College), and 0. Stewart (St. Andrew's College) equalled the record of D. J. Barclay ((Technical College), witih a jump of 4ft 8-Jin. In the long jump G. Williams made a new record by jumpinsz 20ft 3sin at his first attempt. G. Williams had no difficulty in winning the 120 yds hurdles, clipping 1-5 sec off the record. In the mile open E. B. £. Taylor took 4-ssec. off the record established by W. S. Dalgety (Christ's College) last year. Christ's College won hoth the open and junior championships. The events were divided into two classes—open, and under fifteen years, and for the first time a 220 yds onen race was run, this event replacing the one mile walk of previous years. The number of competitors from each school was limited to two. The results were as follows:

Batchelor at once took the lead, and although pressed by Forsyth over the last hundred yards was able to stall off the challenge, winning by two yard?, five yards separating the other placed men.
