CANTERBURY CENTRE.
A meeting of delegates io the Canterbury Centre cf the New Zealand- Amateur Athletic Association was held last aight, Mr C. S. McCully presiding;. A discussion toc-k place on the attitude c 4 the New, Zealand Council in regard to the answering of correspondence from the Centre. Under th© Association rules the Centre should not promote the 50 mile road raca until the proposal had received the sanction of the Council, but the Council had failed to answer letters from the Centre on the matter. It waa decided ta write the Cauncil drawing attention to its failure to answer questions, and to state that tho Centre waa going- on with the race. The North Canterbury Caledonian Society : vas granwd permission *o include six c:;tr:i cven?3 in tho amateur portion of the prosrairme of -yo-ts to l>- held in Ambcriey on Boxing Day. It way decided that Mr W. George Brass, thould be engaged as organising secretary of the. combined clulsa this season and Mr Hammond was elected aj secretary to ti:e Centre. The Methvcn Caledonian Society was {{ranted permisaion to place two amateur events on the prograaume of sports to be held on Jajiuary 10th, IQ2S.
Tho Halswcll Sports Club wa« granted permission »to run two cycle- event* and Jour foot events at the annual sports meeting A letter was received stating th»t an amateur cvcliug club vms beirts* formed in Waikari and was affiliating with the Waikari Sports Club.
It was agreed that the evetjin» meetinps. should be held each week commencing next week, and that clubs ahould be asked to take'a meeting in rotation. Trochon lowered the school reco-d of 61 2-ssec by doing; '.he distance in 60 3-ssec. In tho Feuior cup 220 j-ards event, C. H. Duff cq'-.aLVI ths previous rcvord time of 2<3ec, and alsc equated tho school record of 10 4-3feo in -he senior cap 100 yards event. MrArthur and Duff tied for the senior cup. The junior cup was won by Trochon.
