Tops on unmanured plots were not worth calculating. Tops on plots WITH manure—--1 ton 12 cwt. per acre. The feed would be— No manure, 3' tons per acre; With manure, 11 tons 7 cwt. per acre. Calculate the carrying capacities of these crops at sheep per acre per annum and you get: Without manure—--1 sheep per acre per annum. With manureSi sheep per acre per annum. The extra cost of carrying the extra sheep being only the price of the manure—a few shillings per acre.
