ADDINGTON MARKET.
AN IRREGULAR SALE. LITTLE CHANGE IN VALUES. (BT OCa COMMZBCIAL ZD1708.) Tho lnnst notable fcafuro of the weekly market yesterday wa; it 3 irregularity. In both the mutton and be*! sections the market started off spiritedly, pond, sh<-cp showing a 3s line, whi!?t. prime .*,fcer3 when that rlars was iracbrd, werei up to 203 a head better than last, week. However, both markets flipped in tho liter stages, although a. oper.ially line of cheep sold very veil in tho closing race. A cauic of th<> beof slackening war. a. lair. arri,'"aj o' shipped cattle, but tho market had f'i such am extent that, they were n'.t offered. ( Ju an overage mutton was a. shade. better than last week, and beef s'igbl'y easier. Good Hnc3 of store sheep sold freely. The fat pig market was remarkable in respect of the localities from which the, entries were drawn, lu'j odd coming from North Auckland. The. market was very much oversupplied, and if tho shipping business continues local faHcnets wiii have to l""k for lower prices. The day was line, and thero was a larjre. attendanco oi farmeis and others at tho s-ale. STORE SHEEr. Thero was a very small entry of store 3hccp. Ewes and lambs formed tho bulk of tho offering, and except for a couple of pens they wcro of a plain class. Thero wos just a littlo more freedom than 'last week in the competition for ewe's and lambs. A pen of 53 good six and eight-tooth crossbred owes with 68 lambs made 2?s (all counted). Thero were a fair number of shorn wethers forward, fbough most of the lines contained a proportion of sheep with failing mouths. Any wethers at all forward met with a good demand, but some vendors of hard, backward wethprs expected rather much for their consignments, with tho result that they failed to change hands. However, generally speaking, wethers sold on a par with lato rates. A line of 200 forward wethers made 20s 3d. A proportion of theso sheep did not have sound mouths. Very few hoggets wero penned. One line of shorn wether hoggets, realised from 21s 3d to 2is'ld. Values were: j Forward sound and failing-mouthed shorn I wethers, 29a 3d. Sound and failing-mouthed shorn wothers, 21s Bd. Tho yarding was on tho small 6ide,. com- | poising 8J races, as against 91 last week, though some allowance has to bo mado for : tho fact that less space is occupied by show ] sheep,.of which, class tho bulk of tho entry was comprised. A northern consignment of shorn-owes was ofitercd, and they wore an outstanding lot. The market opene'd at an advance on last week, and an improving market was, experienced throughout, th'ougit it-was very irregular. In eouio cases there were definite rises of 4s a head, but on an < avorago tho advance was, equal to Is: 6d to 2s a head. Quality on the whole was fair, there being some .very- primo wethers and ewos, with a proportion of poorly finishcd shorn wethers. Tho best draft penned wis from L.
