GUN CLUBS.
* SPRINGSTON. The ladies' day shoot of the Springston Gun Club was held at SpritLgaton Soutih on Labour .Day, when a good, gathering of visitors was present. A strong wind made the shooting difficult. The match was of 15 clay birds, handiicap distances. The prizes v.-cre given by the patron of the club; the Hon. Sir B. Heaton Rhodes. Twentynin© shooters faced: the " ttaps, and the result "w r as a, ; strnight-out. win for T. Kimber, who took first prize for Mrs Kimber. W. Eeid and' A. X. Turner tied for second and third' prizes, and' in the shoot-off AV. Eeid. shootinsr for Mrs G. N. Or inanely, wen on the seventh round, taking socond prize. A. N. Turner, shooting for Mr 3 Turner, took third prize. Mr G. N. Ormandy was referee, and Mr Bnrney scorer. Dr. E J. Ccoke, president of the clu'o, handed' the prizes to the winning ladies, and cheers wots given for the donor. The following were the individual scores: T. Kimber' (18yds) 15, A. Turner (18yds) 13, W. There was a goc-d muster of shooters and their lady friends at the annual ladies tlav shoot of the Ellesmere Gun Club. For the first match, cf 21 birds trophies were presented by the president. the Fanners' Co-op. Assn., and the D.iX. . Giaham. L. C. Lemon, E Washbournc CSnirn, A. Thian, B. Donald, and T. lied, and in the .shoot-off F. Graham took first place. G. Xairn second, and E. Washbourne third. In the option sweep, L. Lemon took first money. A. Thian second, and B. Donald third. In a first-miss-out, there were shooters and at the sixth round W. Quigle> and G. Nairn divided the money. A second firsl-miss-out was cont«*ted b> 10 shooters, and was won bj . Q T the ninth round.
