In Wellington and Dunedin, for instance, they specified what should be used in buildings, but in Christchurcli ' the builder could do as he pleased. The letter was referred to the committee. Two remits for consideration of the conference of the Master Builders' Association to be held in Auckland in the near future, were adopted. They were as follows: — "That the executive again introduce piece-work clauses when nesv awards are being prepared." . "That the Apprentices' Act be altered to allow of one apprentice to two journeymen or less in any" branch oi the trade. A further proposed remit regarding the building of soldiers' houses was discussed in committee.
