(ET CABLE—PHZS3 ASSOCIATION COPTniOIrT.) (AUSTRALIAN AlfD K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received February sth, 10.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 4. A telegram from Philadelphia states that a largo assemblage witnessed the presentation of the 50,000 dollars Bc-k Peace. Award to the winner, Dr. Charles Horbert Levermore, secretary of tho New York Peace Society, former president of Adelphia ColTege and a college classmate of tho late Dr. Wilson. The presentation of tho cheque Was made by Mr J. W. Davis, former Ambassador to Britain who, referring to Dr. Wilson, asked whether the coincidence of the latter's death, with this evidence of the promotion of international conciliation might not be regarded as an encouraging sign of the deathlessness of tho Wilson ideals. ' Mr Davis concluded: "There remains the question whether the plan will evoke sufficient popular support to warrant the payment of the remaining 50,000 dollars. I cannot predict the result; but if America in good faith desires to promote the cause of lasting peace, she can do it only by organised co-operation with tlio rest of mankind. She cannot have the best of two divergent worlds."
