UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.

Tho general monthly mooting of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club was held last night, Mr W. E. Green presiding-. Tho caretaker of the Papanui competition pens reported that tho birds had gone oS somewhat during Janua'ry, the flock teams having been the worst offenders. The sudden change in tho weather from heat to cold seemed to have caused tho egg laying to ease off, but with tho recent warmer days, moat of them had come back again. Mos* of the ducks were moulting, but some had come through tho moult and had startod laying again. A bird in pen 298 and another in 303 had been treated for sickness, and the latter had since died. Tho following figures showed the eggs sant to market du'ring January: 416 doz. first grade, 228 doz. second grade, and 5-1 doz. duck eggs. The CTiristchurch Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club wrote asking the Utifity C'uo to nominate judges for utility classes at the June Show. The matter was left in the hands of th.3 Show Committee.
