There is no confirmation here of the resignation of the President at Peking. Japanese officials are not inclined to attach importance to ths report, regarding the step as one of expediency, and without fundamental reason, in any event it will not alter-Jftpaneae policy.
SUN YAT SEN'I3 SUCCESS. (Received June 4th, 5.6 pm.) VANCOUVER, June 2. A United Press menage from Shanghai reports that the probability of Sun Yat Sen resigning has greatly decreased as a result of the victory of his troops over the Kiang-si foroea, who suffered u terrible defeat in tho mountain pastes before Nan-chang. Thousands of casj ualties are reported. Stan Yat Sen's army also captured much heavy artillery, as well as machine-guns and rifles.
WTJ PEI-PU'S THREAT. (Received June 4th, 11.5 p.m.) PEKING, June 3. Wu Pei-fu has announced that if Sun Yat Sen persists in opposing the plans for tho unification of China, he will be eliminated by the sword if necessary. He says that he will launch a drive against the southern forces without delay, taking the iiret step to oppose Sun Yat Sen's advance in the Kiang-si Province.
