The Australian Telegraphists' Union is asking for. higher rates of pay and altered conditions of employment. The advances in salary asked for are:—For juniors, 18 years of age, £156 per annum; 19 years, £168; 20 years, £180; and 21 years of age, £220. For adults, first years, £240, increasing by annual increments of £2O up to £3OO in the fourth year. After that time the an* nual increment asked for was £lO up to the twelfth year, by which time it would reach £3BO per annum. For officers designated as telegraphists or clerical assistants, and graded as thirdclass, the pay asked for during the first year was £4OO. increasing by £lO per annum to th« third year, when it would amount to £420/
