APPEAL FOR THE BUND.

£Bl3 REALISED. ' The miserable weather conditions yesterday did not damp *the ardour of the workers who had undertaken the appeal in aid of the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund for the civilian blind. From an early hour the stalls in Cathedral square were the scene of brisk activity. The total result .of the day's effort was £Bl3 18s 2d, which, with the Government subsidy of 24s in the £, means a very handsome addition to the fund for the civilian blind. If the day had been fine it is quite certain that £IOOO would have been raised. Business was very brisk in the morning, when the takings equalled those on the most successful Violet Days. In the afternoon nothing but badges could be sold outside tho stalls as tho weather prevented the sale of songs. The takings of the various stalls were as follows: — £. s. d. Sale of Badges ... 407 4 3 Sweets Stall ... 144 16 8 Cakes Stall ... 110 10 0 Produce Stall ... 85 2 0 Miscellaneous Stall 28 8 0 ... Flower Stall ... 25 1 0 < Book Stall ... 12 16 3 During the day the C.E.M.S. Band •nder the conductorship of Mr G. E. i)unn played selections which helped to enliven the procedinegß considerably.
