COMMUNITY SINGING.
TO THE EDITOR OF "iHB PRESS.'' Sir, —I went early and got in this time. Our performance was not so good as tho opening day under Mr Russell. I hear tho same criticism applies to last Wednesday, too, so it seems to point to the fact that a lot depends on tho conductor; our man to-day should have come armed with a megaphone. We had difficulty in hearing his instructions. The singers were not nearly so well balanced as on the first day. When tho men were asked to stand up, I found myself like unto a rugged rock amid a smiling sea of femininity, and it was •the last straw, as far as my courage wag concerned, 1 .when the bald-headed men were requested to stand up- My! How we would fill a Town Hall at an evening sing. It would mean Quite a revenue to the Coal and Blanket ifund and such like objects. _ I think the committee would be taking the right. step to engage a conductor. It would give us a chance to get en rapport with his method.—Yours, etc., PETER TROLOVE.
