The principal rebel loader, Morris, and a considerable number of followers escaped under cover of darkness. A hundred prisoners were captured. An official report states that the rising has been completely crushed, with a loss to the Government forces of two killed and two wounded. A considerable number of the enemy were killed. Two of the leaders are believed to be .fugitives, making for the Orange River. Troops have been dispatched thither.
