C.E.M.S. BAND.

1 ANNUAL MEETING. Thei annual meeting of the Church of England Men's Society Band waa held on Monday, tho Kev. W. 11. Orbeil presiding. The Diooesan executive of the Society was represented by Kev. S. Parr, and Messrs W. N. Work and C. H. Clibbora. The Band executive was represented by Messrs C. M. Strachey (secretary and treasurer) and Jb'. Georg«, and Bandmaster C. Dunn. The annual report stated that the band was in a very efficient state, had improved considerably during the year under .Bandmaster Dunn, and had kept its ranks well filled. Parochial engagements at entertainments and outdoor functions had been filled in the Papanui, Misnvale, St. Matthew's, Opawa, Addington, and Fendalton parishes, and the band had played at civic concerts and other engagements. Tha balance-sheet showed receipts for the year amounting to £166 (including earnings fill), expenditure £l4O, and a total cash credit of £2B, with outstanding credits of M, which had been paid after the balanoe-sheet was closed. The whole of the balance was absorbed by the final payments on the uniforms. The liabilities at the close of the financial year were £225, the larger part of which was an unsecured loan to tho band by Mr J. O. Adams, who had been its staunch friend. The secretary reported that Mr C. Dunn had been reappointed bandmaster, and a very hearty vote of thanks waa passed to Mr Dunn for past services. The following were elected officers of the hand:—Secretary, Mr A. Collins; librarians, Bandsmen Pollock and Derbidge; sergeant and deputy-bandmaster, ilr E. Harbott; corporal, Mr C. Pollock; Jance-corporal, Mr A. Woolcook. The band agreed to give its services gratis hetween 2 and 8 p.m. to-day in aid of the Mayor's effort to raise funds for the civilian blind of New Zealand. A scheme to raise funds to wipe off the band's liability of £225 was referred to the executive. . The chairman presented efficiency and attendance badpeo to several bandsmen during the evening.
