Tho Gordon Hotels, Limited, London, aro taking the lead in making a substantial reduction of- hotel charges. At a board meeting it was decided to malw* 8s 6d, instead of 12s 6d, the minimum charge for a single bedroom, and 12s 6d, instead of 17s 6d, for a double room. In addition, a plain breakfast, to cost 2s 6d will be started. The new scale, which will be nut into effect immediately, is practically that of 1914. It, will apply to five hotels; the Metropole, Victoria, and Grand in Northumberland avenue; the Grosvenor, a.i, Victoria Station, and First Avenue, nolborn, which between them contain over 1500 rooms. It was stated that the company hoped to attract more family parties to London, and expected tneir action to have considerable influence iii the direction of reducing restaurant charges on the railways, and possibly also railway fares.
