OXFORD COLLIE DOG TRIALS.
The Oxford Collie Club's trials were concluded yesterday. Although the weather was dull and somewhat cold, there was again a good attendance of spectators. The programme was specially well adapted lor the purpose of working sheep under not too easy conditions. Messrs W. E. Davis and J. Youngman provided the sheep used in the trials, merinos being used for Class I. and halfbreds for the other classes. Mr Frank (president) waa assisted by an energetic committee in carrying out the arrangements for the triak, The events decided were as follows:
CLASS 2—Huntaway with slew. Prizes £7, £3, £2, and £l. Maximum points 30. Twenty-eight entries. T. H. Bennett's Tip, 28 points .. .. 1 James Chapman, jun.'s \Rouse, 22 points 2 A. Booth's Spark, 18 points .. ..3 P. Kane's Mick, 18 points .. -.4 Other doje worthy of mention were H. Combs's Spark, Jack Cook's Pat, L. Marsh's Rome, and A. Kennedy's Jock. CLASS 3—Huntawuy, head, bring back, and hold. Prizes £5, £2, £l, and 10s Gd. Maximum points 30. Twenty entries. L. Anderson's Chum, 26 points .. .. 1 L; Marsh's Rome, 16 points .. ~2
J. McLeod'B Tip, 15 points .. .. 3 Jaa. Chapman, jun.'e Rous, 14 points .. 4 A. Kennedy's Jock also did the work. SPECIAL PRIZES.
District dog scoring the most points in Class 1— £1 Is, Jack Cook's Fly; second 10s 6d, W. Starky's Bob. District dog scoring most points in Class 2 —First £1 Is, Jack Cook's Pat; second 10s 6d, L. Marsh's Rome. District dog scoring most points in Class B—First £1 Is, L. An'ieraon'a Chum; second 10s Cd, T. N. Monk's Major. The foregoing were open, only to dogs that had never won a, first prize. District roturned soldier scoring most points —First £1 Is, Jack Cook 1; second, D.I.C. prize 10s 6d, W. Starky 2. District musterer scoring most points—£l Is, Jack Cook 1. Dog scoring most points in Class I—A. Turpin'a Ross. Dog scoring most points in Class 2—T. H. Bennett's Tip. Oldest competitor—los 6d, A. Henderson.
Youngest competitor—los Gd, Jim Cook. Competitor who showed moat ability in working his dog—los Cd, given by Mr T. J. Frame, T. H. Bepnett.
Best all-round dog on the ground—£l Is ■nven by Mr. J. Byrne, James Chapman, jun.'a Rouse. Competitors' race—E. Youngman 1, A. Neave 2.
