The proportion of prime stuff was somewhat larger than last week. At tho start prime beef was in fairly good demand, and sold at about lato rates, but as the sale progressed tbe demand eased, and on the whole values for prime beet were down about 20s per Kad compared with the previous sale. Cow beef and. secondary steer beet were again hard to quit, and for theße classes low prices ruled. A 'ine of thirteen prime steers from Messrs Hunter Bros, and Rioe (Wyndham) made from £ll 17s 6d to £l4 17a 6d. tho latter being the be3t price, of the day. A moderate supply of veal calves was forward and pries were practically on a par with the previous.week. The proportion of tho entry fit for butchers' requirements was not large. Values were:— Runners, to £4 16s. Good vealors, £3 7s 8d to £4 Bs. Medium vealers, £1 15s to £2 17s ed. Small calves, Es upwards. STORE CATTLE. Tliero waa a fairly large yarding of store cattle, but '\ho quality generally wfcs poor. The demand was fairly good, and prices were much about the same as last sale. A good clearance was made. Values wore:— Four-year-old steers, £4 12a 6d to £4 17s 6d. Three-year-old steers, £3 to £3 7s 6d. Two-year-old steers, £2 to £2 6s. Yearling steers, £1 6s to £1 10s. Three-year-old heifers, £5 los to £6.. Two-year-old heifers, £4 6s to £4 16s. Yearling heifers, £2 7s 6d to £2 12s 6d. Medium cows, £1 8s to £1 15s. Poor cows, 12s 6d to £1 2a 6d. DAIRY CATTLE. A large yarding of dairy cattle was forward, a considerable proportion consisting of aged and inferior nows. The eale was not as bright fts last week, and generally prices were lower. There was little demand for cows and heifers just calved. Values were:— Extra good second and third, oalvers to £ls. Reliable second and third qalvers, £7 to £ll. Good springing heifere, to £l2. Ordinary springing heifers, £6 to £9 10s. Backward springers, to £S 10s. Cows and heifers just calved, £2 to £G 10s. Aged and inferior'cows, 10s to £H 10s. FAT PIGS. A medium varding of fat pigs met with a good demand. Values were:— Shoppers,: £2 10s to £6. ■ Light baconers, £3 7s to £S 15a. Heavy baooners, £4 to £4 Bs. ' Extra' heavy baooners, to £4' Hi, Average price per lb, 6Jd. Light porkers, 40s to 455. Heavy porkers, 47s 6d to 57s Gd. Average price per lb, 7Jd to Bd. STORE PIGS. A fair entry of store pigJ was forward, and whilo the larger sorts slipped back in price, there was a better sale tor weaners. Largo Btores were from .8s to 4s a head cheaper than at the previous eale. Values were: — Medium stores, 85s to 425. Small stores, 18s to 80s. Good weaners, 9s lo 12a.
