ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Nurse Maude Nursing Association was hold yesterday, Mr W. Kecce presiding. The chairman, in moving tho adoption of the annual report, wnich has already been published, said that dospite all efforts the subscriptions and contributions were mucn tne same as last yt-ar. Here was ail oppoitunuy tor tno wealthy to assi-t numa-ity. lie hoped tiiat in tlie lutd.e \vou.a remember tne fund in their Wills. It was a pity tiiat the Government had had to withdraw tne subsidy owing to the financial stringency, but the ioss had been mot to some extent by the grant of £4OO promised by the Hospital Hoard, although this would 6iul leave a shortage of £225. In seconding tiie motion, Mr J. C. Prudhoe said there was n 0 doubt that tho Association was justifying its existence. As long as human nature was what it was there would be need of such an organisation. In view of the present financial state of the country he considered that tho finances of the Association were in a healthy condition. Perhaps it would be possible in the near future to open a branch in another part of the city. In returning thanks for the remarks made by the speakers, Nurse Maudo said that it was rather hard that the nurses of the Association should have to go on their rounds on bicycles. She hoped that means would be found to Erovide a motor-car for the purpose, ut unfortunately the funds of the Association would hardly permit of such an expense. Mr J. P. Whatman said he would like the Association to be a lining monument to Nurse Maude. He would like to see it put on such a footing that if anything should happen to Nurse Maude herself the organisation would be able to carry on. He felt sure that if the public were approached in this connexion they would see that the endowment fund was put on such a footing. The chairman said that when tlie Association moved into its headquarters the name, Nurse Maude Association, was salectcd with a view to perpetuate the organisation.
