She is expected back at Lytteltou on Wednesday to load for Wellington and Wangar.ui. Tlio Progress loads to-day for Wellington, Picton, and Creymouth. The Kuhika is to load to-day for Nslson and New Plymouth, and is to sail via Wellington. The Hoinvlale is now due to-morrow to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wnkatn is to come off the slip to-day, and should complete her overhaul by Saturday. The Waimarino is due this morning from Calcutta, via Newcastle, Auckland, and Wellington. After discharging Eastern cargo, she is to sail for Dunedin, and 1 may ret away to-night. * The Kaihma. is to discharge Melbourne cargo here to-day. She will then load for Westport, and is timed to sail to-night. The Waihemo will not get away for NewcaaMe before next Wednesday. The Wingntni arrived early yesterday afternoon from Wellington. THE FIRE ON THE DEVON. After working till seven o'clock yesterday morning, it was irDoitc.l that the water had .had the desired effect, jind that the fire in the Devon's bunker had been extinguished. The engine-room staff and the members of the Fire Brigade had a very strenuous ni<?ht, and were exhausted by. morning. Captain Gardrier, commander of . the Devon, and the chief engineer worked down in the bunker, and it was due largely to their efforts that the fire was sot under. Although there was no actual outburst of flames, the smouldering coal and the fumes mnde conditions in the bunker anything bijt pleasant. Yesterday afternoon another small outbreak was exposed, an-] the Brigade were again sent for. A good pressure of water extinhed , after, a- couple of hours J iio work of discharging- tho bunker is stili proceeding, and when completed a survey will be made before fresh bunkers are loaded.
