POLO.

CONCLUSION OF TOURNAMENT. Tho Rhodes. Cup Tournament was concluded on Saturday morning, when tho final was played between Ainuri and Pareora B. The rain overnight made tho field slower than it was on the previous day, and the turf was (airly cut up as a result of the three previous days' play. There was a good attendance of spectators, inoluding a large number of ladies who had been in attendance throughout tho tournament, despite tho wintry keenness of the air. The results of tho final were aa follows : Amuri, 11 goals handicap (L. Macfarlano captain, R. Gould, D. Gou.d, and E. Davidson) beat Pareora B, 14 goals handicap (H. Orbell captain, H. Harper, J. C. Miller, and A. Gouid) by 24 goals to 15. Pareora B played a very bright game the previois day when they boat their own A team, but they ,did not reach the same standard of play against Amuri. 'The bumpy state of the ground militated against uniformly good direction being obtained in tho driving. Amuri played the better game throughout, and from the start sot out vigorously to overhaul the three-point advantage Pareora had in tho handicap. This was accomplished in tho first chukka, I in the succeeding spells the play of the Amuri ! team improved considerably, with the result that they won the game in a decisive fashion. They carried the ball the length of the field I with splendid rushes time after time, and Pareora seldom had an opportunity of initiating a good attacking movement. Pareora got home in the third chukka, registering a goal, which proved to be the only addition they could make to their handicap. In the fourth chukka H. Orbell (Pareora) was disabled for two or three minutes by a blow on the arm. Amuri continued to pile up the' score, and when they went put for the final chukka they were eight in the lead. Au additional goal was scored by Amuri in the final spell, bringing the total scores, including handicaps, to: Amuri 24, Pareora B 15.
