NEW RAILWAY POLICY.
REMOVAL OF ANOMALIES. * The new" railway policy mentioned by the Prime Minister when speaking at tho Auckland Commercial Travellers' Club on Monday, was the subject of astatement by tho Minister of Railways, ihe Hon. I>. H. Guthrie, at Auckhuid later in the week. Mr Guthrie said the. "Department, had tinder consideration the revision of freights «ind fares, with the idea of removing, wherever possible, the anomalies that exist, with 0 . view to bringing in a reduction. He was not in a position to indicate exactly what v.-as to be done, as tho proposals would have to be approved by Cabinet l>cfore any announcement could bo made.
AN ADVISORY BOARD. (WESS ASSOCIATION TELEGKAM.) WELLINGTON, April 1. In connexion with the Prime Minister's recent references to changes in the railway policy, it is reported Jocallv tiliafc one of tho measures contemplated is the association of an advisory board with tho railway management. Ihe board would bo composed of business men, and its special function would bo to suggest methodsi of improving the railway system on tho business side.
