CHILDREN'S FANCY DRESS BALL.
A yen- suoctssiui children's fancy dress tall was held in the Drill Hall, islaiapoi, last evening. The children in costume were upwards of 250 in number, and scarcely two dresses were alike. Various dances and games were gene through by the children, who had been trained by Mi*s A. A. Lynsrfev and lirs S. J. Richards. she xnusio for the "land march and dances wa3 played by member" of the Kaiaooi Brass Band, Piper Kota playing for the Scotch dances. Several prizes were given, and the awards were made by popular vote, tickets being distributed at tile door for that purpose. The piize-winr rera were: — Best farcy costume: Patty Reeves (Fairy). 1; Lulu Barrett (Autumn), ± Most original dress: Frederick Blackburn (Rooster), 1; Isabel Hill 2. Special prizes: Arnold Green (Footballer), and Cecil Fantham (Charlie Chaplin) The proceeds, £33, are to be divided between tho Kaiapoi Band and Bowling Club.
