THEATRE ROYAL.
"WAY VOWS? EAST." How a lithpls and by uo meana now etcry may bo converted into a veritable epio whoa handled by a master-producer is exemplified in "Way Down East," tho D. W. Griffith super-picture which is now being screened at tho Theatre Royal. Last night another big audience wondered at the magnificenoo of tho picture, anad appreciated the perfect art of Lilian Giah in tho rolo of tho heroine, a part which gives her the opportunity of her career, and which enables her to crown her many meritorious successes, pleasant country scenes and staid home lifo vio with, tho most sensational thrills in "Way Down .East," and Griffith shows what a great producer ho is, not by giving a succession of melodramatic thrills, but by blending the simple lifo with the big effect, thereby making the who'.e thing doubly telling. Never oa stag© or screen, however, has tbtro been before such a sensational thrill aB tho etnrtlingly rcalietiu ice-fio> ecene, which 13 a real marvel of conception, acting, and photography. Tho orchestral music, has been written to fit every incident of tho fi'mj greatly enhances the effect, ami the work of the orchestra, under ilits Nolhs ■ Black, is of a verv high standard. ' "Way Down East" will bo Fcreened ar.iin this evening, r.nd there will bs a mannee this aftern:on.
