Tho Medical Officer of Health wrote, ei»tin,- that he could not now spare an _ inspector to make a house to house vis. tation. Tho Council would havo to bear all expenses incurred by such inspection. In reference to the action of tho Council at its last meeting, in protesting against proposed incieaßod audit fees, Jur Jordan, Government auditor, wrote stating that he had never increased tho Jew. Ia ie3ponse to the request of wW Peninsula, "War Memorial Executive for the names of all Peninsula men wlio went on active service, and particularly of those who mado the supreme eacrifioa, the chairman undertook to compile the list for Okains Bay, Mr Hay for Pigeon Bay, Mr Stewart for French Farm, while other portions of the county were allocated to prominent men outBide the Council. On motion of Cr. Stewart it was decidedi unanimously to agree to tho proposal. The department of Industries and Commerce wrote urging all local bodies to buy Now Zealand manufactured goods in preference to those from overseas. It was decided to reply that the Council would certainly do bo wherever possible. In reference to L. T. 1© Comte's complaint about his metal contracts, Cr. Stewart explained tho. position with regard to 100 odd' yards: of metal still left that was partially covered by a slip. It was decided to ask Mr le Comte to clear the metal bo that it could bo remeasurcd, when a settlement would be made.
The finance report showed receipts £2OOB 8s 9d, dr. balance B.N.Z. £727 15s Id, tern-' porary loans account dr. £895 13s, account* for payment £B9B 8s 7d, cash in hand £6O 12s.
