Ernest Tcrah Ilooloy, Thomas Fletcher (ex-Mayor of Derby), John An;;us Mao Donald (oxhMnjyor of Ilkeston), Thomas Llewellyn Demrry, Hoolcy's secretary, William Alfred Wallis, n solicitor, and Bertrand Brcakspcar, Hooley's clerk, are being prosecuted at Bow street Polico Court charged with conspiracy to defraud in connexion with the flotation of the Jubileo Cotton Mills, Ltd., Oldham. Tho prosecution alleged that Demon? induced Lewis, a wealthy young Cardiff shipowner, to invest £OO,OOO by falsi' statements. Lewis did not know of Hooley's connexion with tho project, tho latter studiously keeping in tho background. [The Official Receiver in Bankruptcy recently stated that Hooley's liabilities were more than £060,000, and his assets about £'-15,000. the latter hein-: claimed by the trustees in connexion with a previous bankruptcy.]
