Complaint was made recently by the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association to the Defence Department as to the employment of civilians when returned men were available. BrigadierGeneral G. S. Richardson has replied stating that preference to returned soldiers was carried out wherever it was possible to do so without prejudicing the efficiency of the branches concerned. Still further reductions were being made in the Defence Department. Many returned men-had been found temporary employment in this Department, but that was not satisfactory from a repatriation point of view, as they could not be said to have been properly repatriated until they had een installed in permanent positions. *he Repatriation Department, therefore, had a big task ahead. WARNING TO PARENTS. The education authorities warn children not to take too many sweets. There is also another danger to avoid, i.e., the use of cough remedies containing narcotics, syrups, or alcohol. Dectors commend "Fluenzol""for children's use as it is free from such deleterious ingredients. H53Q2
