CANTERBURY ROWING CLOT. There was a large gathering of sportsmen at the Canterbury Sowing C v.b's smoke concert on Saturday night. .Ail tlie .•••eul rowing clubs, and the Canterbury Rugby Union, were represented. The president, Mr F. I. Cowlishaw, who was in the chair, reminded the guests that the Canterbury Rowing Club was. now in its sixtieth year. ' The club had gone through several years of comparative inactivity, but during the past season it.had got back into its stride, and the crows showed excellent promis-.-. The toast list was as follows; —"GR.C." (proposed by the president and replied to by the club captain, Mr V. D. Hewer); "President and Vice-presidents" (Mr H. S. Godfrey, replied to by the president and vicepresidents); "Sister Clubs" (Mr H. H. Evans, replied to by representatives of other clubs); "The Ladies" (Mx W. M. Stewart, replied to by Mr R. R, 0. Spoonor); "Winners and Losers" (Mr D. M. Robertson, replied to by Messrs F. J. Stewart and R. A: Trigga). Musical items wore given by Messrs F. MoniEort, C. Holliss, H. S. Hobbs, C. and H, Hollis, W. Scarle, and W. M. Stewart. The accompanists were Messrs Howe and Kirk.

Prizes were presented as follows: — ■* S. P. Godfrey—Junior Four, Wellington, "Souths'.. Double Sculls, Wellington, Christchurch and Kaiapoi; Thomas Pairs (R. D. Thomas Cup); Club Champion Singles (Godfrey Cup). F. W. M. Cowlishaw—Youths' Four, Christchurch; Youths' Doubles, Christchurch, Wellington, and Kaiapoi; Thomas . Pairs; Youths' Single Sculls (Life Members' Cup «nd Wray Cup). F. H. Brown—Youths' Four, Christchurch; Youths' Pair, Kaiapoi; President's Four.
