PRICE OF APPLES.

TO THE KDITOB Ot "T&h PBKS3.

Sir,—Replying to the letter signed "Jonathan" in your Monday's, issue, who I take it is a fruitgrower, I would suggest to that gentleman thfit ho take a shop and then he will find out for himself that what with high rent, high wages, etc.. if he steals the fruit he cannot sell If under 3d and pay his way. Growers are profiteering when they demand more than 2d for any apple. I have known these philanthropic gentlemen to demand 4d and 6d per lb for their a*?les ; they Vou d take Is if they could pet it. Probably ''Jonathan" grows very poor stuff.. We always find his kind among the growers.—Yours, etc., _ A.KNOX, Secretary Christcnurch Retail Fruiterers' Association. , 394 Colombo street, Sydenham.
