NEW QUARTZ REEFS.
•'RICHEST SOUTH OP THE LINE." (VEB3S ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) . HCrFTON, April 22. Mr Downey, Inspector of Mines, has just returned from an inspection of thg new quartz reef found four miles from the Maruia road and 18 from Reef ton. Ho confirms the richness of the quarts, which:is in good solid country. .From samples brought to Reef ton, it is estimated that the yield will be over lOOoss to tbo ton. All tfhe quartz shows rich gold. The reef,, which is five to seven feet wide, has been opened up for two chains. Two other reefs of ]4ft and. 3ft 6in, respectively, liave l*een found a iittlo'distance away, but th'ey are uot so rich, though 'highly pajablc. It is considered that the find contains. tho richest stone' south of the line. Other claims havo been pegged out and applied for. The find is in new country w'hero quartz was noti supposed to exist.
