Sixty-six days out from Cardiff, the Win-all Transport Company's steamer Dopnhohn arrived in the stream yesterday afternoon, and berthed at No. 6 wharf. The Doonhohn left the Welsh port on February 15th last, and met with fair weather crossing the Atlantic. The Panama' Canal was oleared on March 13th, and the voyage was uneventful until April 14th, when nearing the New Zealand coast a fierce southwesterly gale was encountered, which con'.inued until Wednesday last. _ A slow steamer even under the best conditions, the Doonholm made very elow progress against the storm, her speed averaging.only four knots for the six days. On her worst day she only averaged 2.9 knots. A rather unusual feature, in these days is a eep of sails carried' by the-vessel. With a favourable wind these sails are spr ad and' no doubt compensate to some extent for her low engine power. . The Doonholm was built, in 1907. at the yards of Russell and Co., Glasgow, for the Mitre Shipping Company. She was originally named the Hillglen, but was renamed when she passed to her present owners. She is , classed 100A1, and her (principal dimensions met—Length 385 ft, breadth 49.9 ft, depth 18 4 ft. Captain W. R. S. Brannigon is in command of the vessel, and his officers areChief, Mr F. G. Reddish; second, Mr P J. •Furlong; third, Mr H. H. Twist; chief engineer, Mr S. J. Rook; second, Mr J.Brown; third, Mr A. Cook; fourth, Mr D. Hopkins; wireless operator, Mr H. J. Burrows. She carries a mixed crew of 29 Europeans, and 11 Arab stokehold hands.

The vessel will discharge 6543 tons of Welsh steam coal here for the Railways Depaf tmeht, but her subsequent movements, are not yet announced.

The death has occurred of Captain Alexander Simpson, an ex-master of the Aberdeen White fctar Line. Cap Win Alexander Simpson was for many years one of the best known figures in the Australian trade. In his younger days.Captain Simpson served as officer 'and master in a ;number of the clipper ships of the Aberdeen White . Star X.ine, including the Salamis, Ssphocles, Patriarch, Thyatira, and other well-known traders in the days when sail was supreme.
