The High Commissioner for Mesopotamia removed Sayed Talib Pashaifrom office as Minister of the Interior, and ordered his departure from Baghdad. This action was the outcome of a speech ftt. tt dihnerto" distinguished personages, including Fmir Ttabith and the. Sheikh Salem Ali Kay.an. After rspp-ating the High Commissioner's promise that the intention of the British Government was to eusure the people entire freedom to choose theif own form of government and their own ruler, tyilib declared that he and his cduntrymett were determined to see that Britain's policy was faithfully carried out. Addressing tftnir and Salem, he Suggested that if any signs 'became apparent to the contrary, they with their armed tribal following would have to ho reckoned with, and also his Highness the Naquib. . Iri the order for the removal of Talib. the High Commissioner says he did not doubt the friertdlv attitude and slnceritv of the chiefs referred tp, but if he tolerated such an unseemly threat «s a recourse to armed force he would be fnilintf.in his duty to the people arid the British Government. Talib has left Baghdad.
