Casual workers are to be paid as follows: For the first three days, and thereafter ordinary wages: Kitchen, chef £1 15s per day, second cooks 12s 6d, all other workers 12s 6d, waiters 15s, waitresses 12s (3d, waiter and waitress employed for a single meal 7s 6d, pantryman 12s 6d, pantrymaids 10s, porters and general hands 12s 6d, laundresses 10s. Where work is done away from the employer's premises the payment, is to be:—Chefa £1 7s 6d per day, second cooks £1 2s 6d, other kitchen haijds 15s, waiter* and pantry hands 15s, barmen £l, -waitresses 15s. Overtime is fixed at time and a half for the first three hours, and double time thereafter. Employera aro to provide two workers with two substantial meals per day, or shall pay Is per meal not so, provided. Employers supplying lodgings for guests t shall' do likewise for workers, or pay 7s 6d per week extra. Tho award will operate from. May 9th, 1921, till January 3rd, 1923. • . Canterbury Hotel and .Restaurant Employees (North Canterbury licensed hotels)— The provisions generally are much the same as those set forth in the restaurant and tearoom workers' award. Wages are fixed as follows:—Kitchen, five or more hands: Chef £5, second £3 10s, third £2 7s ed; all other workers £2. Four hands: £4 10s and £3, • £2 5s and £2. Three hands: £3 17s 6d, £2 10s, and £2. Two hands: £3 and £2 2a 6d. One hand: £2 7s 6d; kitchen hand attending ts boiler ss. extra; bonus in addition of 10s Y>r males and 5s for females. Other hands, are to be paid as follows, with a similar bonus:—Head waiters (if two or more waiters employed) £3, head waitress (if three 01 more waitresses employed) £1 16s, other waiters £2 15s, other waitresses £1 lOs, house-maid-waitress £1 10s, pantrymen £2, pantrymaids £1 10s, barmen £3, barmaids £3, cellarmen and bottle store hands £3; porters, day jfe 2s, night £2 ss; general hands £2 2s, laundresses £1 12s 6d; linenmaids £1 12s 6d. Casual workers shall be paid at the following rates for first three days, thereafter ordinary wages:—Chef £1 6s, second cooks 17s 6d, aE other kitchen workers 12s 6d, waiters 16s, waitresses i2s 6d, waiters or waitresses' employed for a single meal 7e 6d, pantrymen 12s 6d, pflntrymaids 10s, porters and 'general bajmaidß £l. Work away from the employers' premises is to be paid for ■as follows: —Chefs £1 7s 6d per day, second cooks £1 2s 6d,. other kitchen hands 15s, waiters and pantry hands 15s, barmen £l, waitresses 15s. Where board is not provided,' £1 extra per week is to be paid, and 10s*where lodging. IB not provided. The award will operate from May 9th, 1921, to January 3rd, 1923. Hotel and Restaurant Employees (private hotels) —The general provisions, are similar to. those provided for' restaurant and tea-. , room workers. : Tho same rates are awarded for kitchen hands, and •■ casual workers, and the rates for dining-room and other employees .are - tho same as' those provided . for licensed hotel workers in a similar capacity.
Amending orders to for bonuses and to alter certain existing conditions are made in the following awards: Timaru and Ashburton Journalists—Senior and general reporters, bonus of 13s per week; juniors and cadets, 6s;'as from November 22nd, 1920. ' ,^ Canterbury (outside Chrietehurch 10-mile radius) "Private Hotel and Boarding-house Employees, and also Tea-room, LuncheonBoom, Oyster Saloon and Refreshment Boom Employees, and South Canterbury Licensed Hotel Employees—Bonus of 13s per week for male workers' and 6s 6d,for female workers and probationers, dating, from November Ist. 1920. A 48-hour week 19 also provided. South Canterbury Bakers and Pastrycooks —Bonus of 13s for workers mentioned in clause 2 of the award; .a bonus of 3Jd pel hour for workers mentioned in 6lause 8: a bonus of 8s per week for improvers and la for apprentices. To operate from November Ist, 1920. ■ . . '
/South Canterbury Wool, Grain, and Man ure Store Employees—All time beyond eight hours to be paid for at the rate of time end a half a minimum rate of Is 8d per hour for casual workers; »• bonus of 3Jd per hour for workers mentioned in clause 2 of the award; casual .workers handling manure in bulk, mixing ox bagging manure, or handling case-oil, to be paid an extra 3d p«r hour; casual workers handling manure in bags to receive an extra lid per hour when employed for not less than one hour. The order to operate from November Ist. 1920. South Canterbury Threshing Mills Employees—A bonus of 2Jd per hour in the case of hourly rates, and 9s per week in the case of weekly wages; -from November let, 1920. , South Canterbury Builders, Contractoro", and General Labourers—A bonus of 3Jd per hour, a3 from November Ist,' 1920. South Canterbury Carpenters and Joiners— The minimum rate for journeymen carpenters and joiners and joiners' machinists shall be 2s per hour, with a bonus of 3|d per.hour'; a worker having oharge of plans and instructing other workers shall receive not less than Is per day extra for two men, or 2s.fox three men or over; the order to operate from November Ist, 1920. Canterbury (except Christchurch andi suburbs) Licensed Hotel Workers—A • bonus of 13s for males and '6s 6d for females from November Ist, 1920. - ' South Canterbury Painters and Decorators —All journeymen in all branches of tho trade to be paid not less fhftn 2g per hour, with a bonus of SJd, and Is per.week for apprentices'.
