. CALL TO DR. CODY. (By Association—-(A-urtralUn and N.Z. Cable Association.) • (Received April 20th, 8:20 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 19. The Australian Press Association communicated with Archbishop Cody, who expressed, pleasure at receiving •* call to Melbourne, but hesitated to comment on :he matter since he had not yet decided whether to.accept.it. Archbishop" Cody, speaking'at Hamilton, Ontario, to-night, declared he would announce his decision on April 24th. [Dr. Henry John Cody was born at Embro, Ontario, on December 6th, 1868. His education was received at the Gait Collegiate Institute and the Toronto University, where he gained the degree of B.A. and the gold medal in classics, in addition to lirst-clasa honours in .mental and moral philosophy and civil polity. The Wyld prize for. English essay was secured by him in 1889, he was awarded, the master .of arts degree in 1890, and the LLiD. in 1906. . In 1903 the Queen's University conferred upon him the honorary degree of doctor of divinity. In 1894 Dr. Cody married Miss Florence L. Clarke, a daughter of the late Mr H. E. Clarke, of Toronto. The same year he was ordained a oricst in the Anglican Ohur-ili. From 1889 to 1893 Dr. Cody held.the position of classical master at. Ridley College, St. Catherine's, Ontario, and between 1894 and 1899 was professor of Old Testament exegesis and church history at Wycliffe College, Toronto. Following those appointments he held the positions of professor of systematic theology at the same institution, and was also lecturer in Latin, and examiner in classics at Toronto Universitv. Since 1907 he has been rector of St. Paul's. In 1903 Dr. Cody was appointed a canon of St. Albans Cathedral, Toronto, and six years later became Archdeacon of York—a position that he subsequently resigned. He was offered and-declined the presidency of King's College, "Windsor, "Nova Scotia, and the principalsliip of Wycliffe Collesce, Toronto. In 1900 Dr. Cody was selected as a delegate and attended the Ecumenical Missionary Conference at New York, and in 1908 represented his church at the Pan-Anglican Congress in London, the World's Missionary Conference at Edinburgh in 1910, and the Ancrli' , nn Church Congress- held later at Halifax. Dr. Cody has taken an active :interest in social and economic onestions, and on these and ether subjects has been a frequent contributor to English 'periodicals.]
