ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
SPRINGrS-ELLESMEEE. The monthly meeting of .the Springs-EUes-mere Electric Power Board', held- at Lcc?ton, was attended' by Messrs J. Cunningham (chairman), E.' H. Howell, E. T. McMillan:, and H. Reave. The engineer (Mr J. R. Teniplin) and acting-secretory (Mr Alex. Webster) were also in attendance. Messrs ■ Bedpath and Son wrote ithat they had instructed their mill to get the board's order for <liardwood polo* under way immediately. The engineer said he expected tome of the poles to come to hand nest month. Messrs Oarrick, Wedderspcon, and Co. wrote that they had cabled the board's order for transformers, and' that early delivery might be .expected. ~ The British General EJectric Co. wrote to the same effect with regard to house- service meters. An enquiry: wa-s from the State Forest Service enquiring what the board's needs were likely to be in the fiituro as regards poles, and seeking other informar tion. .
On tho .motion of Mr McMillan, it was decided to reply that the board's engineer would' supply all the information asked for, and that tho board appreciated the e-teps being taken by the State Forest Service in regnrd to supply of poles in the future. The question "of fixing' the. .hours during which milking machine motors may be used came np. again for discussion. In order to keep the peak load down as low as possible, it was agreed that users of electricity for milking purposes may start at 4.30 njo., but that they must stop their motors at" 8 f. m j> when the ordinary daytime power load -would come on, and (that the evening milking must not begin before 4.30. The hours fixed for other daytime power users were 7.30 a.m.' to 4.45 p.m. The hours fixed' for night rate power users (off the peak-load) were,from 9.30 p.m.. to 5.30 a.m. The' charges for electricity for light and power purposes, as set out in rthe report presented by -the engineer last year, - were adopted. ' - Mr 'Webster asked to be relieved- of the duties of 'acting-secretary as soon as possible, as his work as dark to the ElTesmere County .Council required tie whole of his time. He promised to give "all the assistance'-in'-his. power to the permanent secretary when an appointment was-made. Sevefal members referred to <the valuable help Mr "Webster had given tho board, especially in regard- io the formalities connected with the.'" board's loan. It was a-ereed'that the- matter of a-permanent appointment should be gone into shortly. Mr J. W t ' Kime, one of the members representing the. constituent district of Springs County, 'wrote tendering his resignation, which was accepted with regret; - A resolu•Uon of - appreciation of Mr Kime's services was carried. ~' At -a- special . meeting of ' the. board the, by-laws passed at last meeting relating to house-wiring and installation work, wero confirmed. - • i ~ The engineer presented a Teport upon the prog,Bsa .of *he work. . This showed that tho survey work was "completed," and that the .plans would be finished shortly.
