SPORTING.
The Pacing Commission is hearing evidence m Auckland. It will leave for Hamilton to-morrow, proceeding thence to To Kuiti and Wanganui. At a meeting of the Grevmoutli District; Committee, the Reefton Jockey Club brought under notice of the committee the advisability of appointing a racecourse detective to work all the Coast meetings. It was decided to defer the matter for future consideration. In connexion with the suspension for one month of the jockey; D. Cotton, by tlio Eecfton Club, the* District Committee, in view of communications from other clubs, decided to increase the suspension of the jockey in question to two months. All persons and horses taking part in tho unregistered meetings recently held at "Wataroa. Hari Hari. and Okarito were disqualified- under Rulo 10, Part 2 of the Rules of Racing, referring to unregistered meetings. The Autumn Meeting of tlio South Canterbury Jockey Club ivill be lield to-morrow and on Friday. A special passenger train will leave Christchurch on Friday at 7.55 a.m., arriving at Washdyko racecourse at 11.29 a.m. "The return train will leave Timaru (stopping at "Waslidyke) at 6.35 p.m.

Necessity heat Jazz lover the' same distance in 52 2-sth sec. Jumping off at the niiie-furlong post, Egotism gradually inoreased tho pace until she was racing passing the seven-furlong post. Kept" at it all the way, and brought home by iv stablemate, the JJemosthones mnro ran' the last seven furlongs in lmin 33 l-sth sec. Royal Stag, carrying a wolter weight, ran seven furlongs in lmin 34 2-sth sec. He was brought home by Counter'stroke. - . Shirley was appointed caretaker in succession to Mr J. French who resigned at the end of last month. Mr Shirley has beer caretaker of the Canterbury Park Trotting' Club's course for the past nine years, and his painstaking work there has been much appreciated.by all concerned At the Easter Meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club a number of. persons were caught jumping tho fences. The facts were reported by the c'.ub's detective to the committee at its meeting yesterday, and it was decided that in future *ny offenders would be prosecuted.
