TWELFTH DAY.
Although the Christchurcli Literary and Debating Competitions are now drawing toa cl->s3 after a full session, the interest .of tne public ha-, apparently in no whit abated, and last night there was again a largo attendance at the Theatre Hoyal. Mr Asprey, the vocal judge, in announcing the results wHch came under his adjudication, gave some useful hints to amateur Pinners. He said ihe lady singers should try to be * little more passionate—thoy should endea vour to get into the soul of the person whom they were supposed to be representing, and they should try to pay more attention to rhythm. The breathing also required more attention. Some of the accompanists were in-lined to press too long on the pedals.
