THE TEPID BATHS.
TO TBS mmtoe o* "tub I * Sir, —As'a constant user of the Tepid ! Baths, I wish to draw attention to the unhygienic use of the hot shower by swimmers. Tire use of the hot shower at all, either before or after swimming in the tepid water, is strongly to be deprecated, especially in the winter months, and when you see six or eight youths clustered together under it 'parboiling themselves for from three to five minutes, you are inclined to very much doubt the value of the tepid baths to the community. My firm conviction is that only cpld and tep# water, of the same temperature as tho pool, should be provided for swimmers. Those who desire hot baths, d la Japanese can always obtain them at a very rea-i rionable cost in" 1 the closed compartments. The hygienic procedure is, of course, a cold shower both before and after the swim. . Though this is not my main contention, it may also be pointed out that the provision of cold and tepid water only for the swimmingpool showers would affect a considerable economy in the working of the baths.— Yours, etc., UNBOILED.
