The report and balance-sheet were adopt ed after a brief discussion. The vicar, in his report, recorded h.a thanks for the warm welcome extended w him and his family. The roll number is being maintained, and, in spite of the handicap of unsuitable buildings anU equipment, the worK has been carried on by the teachors vntn The vicar, in ■ addressing thovmeeting, expressed hio pleasure that, at a time whon so many war memorials were hanging fire the purish, memorial was in such a forward state. The memorial window was expected to come to hand very eoon, and in two or three months it was hoped that it would be placed ia position. He asked for the assistance of all 'in -seeingi that the names to be placed on the tablet were correct, and that no names! were missed out. The vicar dealt at eom» length with a number of matters connected with tho church. Mr F. J. Saville wa» re-elected parishionera' churchwarden, and Mr "W. C. Armitagd vicar's churchwarden. • The following veetry were elected:—Messrs Baker, Maddren, Hepden, Hobbs, Nunan, Clibborn, Eames, Lloyd, "Wilson, and Hampton. The meeting approved of the appointment of a Church Day School CommitUo, concißV ing of three membew of the veetry and three paTishionere to be appointed by the vestry.' Tke meeting authorised the vestry to spend up to £llOO on the purchase of a new orgen 'for the church, and also authorised the vestry to offer io the Dioceßan Education Board tho stun of £ls per annum towards the upkeep) of St: Matthew's Victory School. '
BEACH CHURCH, NEW BRIGHTON. Tho annual mating of parishioners of the i Beach Church, New Brighton, was held in the public school last week. The churchwardens' report stated that an increased expenditure during the past year | had been met* by increased offertories and subscriptions. The total income had been £375 17e, and expenses £343 lis Bd, showing a credit balance of £2 5a id. Tho ch<UTch building fund had been increased during the year by about £2BO, and now stood at £1702 5a sd. ■ Messrs F. Ward and 6. W. Bishop , had been appointed trustees in place of Canon Purchas and Mr OH. Winny, resigned. An appreciation b~y tho Vestry of Mr Wimry's services as church officer for over 27 years was expressed in the report. Thero was a special liability for a. loan from the Mil fund of £23 13a, to bo met during tho coming year. Tho churoK and vicarage required painting and repairs. The. Kev. If; H. Mathias hod resigned fliis incumbency,' and would bo leaving for England with his .family about tho end oif May. It was intended to hold a social meeting on or about May 18th in order to give parishioners an opportunity of saying farowell to their old vicar, and to welcome his eucceasor, Rev. C. L. l£aola>verfy. In order to retain the services of a. _ resident vicar it .would be, necessary for the incoming Vestry to materially increase tho stipend guarantee; the question of monthly insteaddf quarterly payments shoiild also 'jo considered. The report concluded with, un expression of thanks" to parish worlcp.ii>. - The vicar eaid he was sure all present would be pleased to find that tho .church-; wardens, had been able to present a credit balance. ■ He woadd shortly be handing over tlw district to -his successor, and ho desired to thank those who had given, him support and sympathy in the past, and he hopedthey would continue their help to Mr M«claverty. 'The goneral work of the <Minic*h bad gone <m' Bteadily. About £lO5 had. been raised "for, mission, work, etc. . The Sunday School, B8 usual, had » difficulty in getting teachers', and he hoped this would be isroodied. • The number of communicants had increased. The vicar then nominated Mr Bargrove as vioar's .warden, Mr Miles beang elected by tho parishioners. Ttwelve men wave nominated as vestrymen, and a ballot resulted in,the election of-Messrs Ward, Bkhop, BJakeway," Langford,. Aslin, Maffey, (Jabb, Parson, Howard, and De Hoo. ST. PETEE'S, AKABOA,' At the annual meeting of poriahionars of fit. Peter's, Akaroa, the- Rev. A. H, Julius , presided. In his report the vica.r referred in -appreciative terms ,to 'the services of those- who had helped him to carry through another successful year's W.ork. It was with feelings of eonoere regret that he had now to intimate publicly his intention of resigning ot *-he end of the yeAT. .He had acted as their vicar for over IS years,, and now, at his age, 4he burden was proving too much. Ther* would bo nti opportunity later on of expressing . his obligations to hi* many friends throughout tha district. Just now he- would content himself wih giving- his parishioners notice that, within twelve months, lie would have retired from activo work amongst them. The churchwardens' report mentioned that whilst tho gene-rail o2ertoriee_ showed a flightdecrease, the special offentoiics exceeded last year's. The foundations of the smie had been strengthened,. and other necesea.vy re* pairs and improvements effected. All the buildings were now in good order. The bslkince-sheei showed a credit of £8 9s' Sd on the general aeemmt. Tbs Lucas Endow- - ment'was in credit '£2oo 6s; the parish room account in credit £3 lis fed, and tha oemetery account in credit £37 3s 3d. The report and balance-sheet wero a-do-v'teJ.
