SHIPPING NOTES. The John'and the Kennedy jeft Lyttelton yesterday for Wanganui and Wellington seinstead of transhipping her ooal to the Gladbrook aa intended, will leave here at noon to-day for Wellington, where she will bunker the Marama. The Poherua is to leave, Lyttelton to-night for Westport, where she will load coal for Oamaru and Timaru. • • ■ '. ' It is hoped to despatch the Kamo f or Grey* mouth to-night to load for Wellington. . The Kaitangata will complete discharge of her Sydney cargo sooner than expected, and 14 now timed to sail tomorrow forGreymouth to load for Sydney. The Waikouaiti is due here to-morrow from Timaru to oomplete loading for Auokland, for which port she is to sail on Friday. Mr M. A. Soott, chief engineer of the Kahika, has gone to Dunedin for orders, and the second engineer, Mr C. Scott, has been promoted to chief. The Wanaka, from the south, is due here on Thursday to load for Napier and, Gisborhe. , _., , The Kowhai should be here on Friday from Timaru to load for Nelson and Greymouth. The Breeze is due here to-morrow from Timaru to load for Picton and Wanganui. The Calm is expected here from the south to-morrow to load for Wanganui. She should get away on Thursday evening The Karu is. due on Thursday from Wellington, and after.an exchange of cargoes she will sail on Friday on the return t..p. The Storm may reach Lyttelton on Saturday from Wanganui, and is tirded to sail the same evening for Dunedin and Timaru. A message from Wellington yesterday stated that -the Moeraki, which arrived there at roon from Sydney, had ceased work at 2.30 p.m. on account of heavy rain, and that it was doubtful if she could be despatched for Lyttelton last night. On account of the large amount of has to handle, 600 tons each way, she will remain at Lyttelton two days, and at present is timed to sail for Wellington to-morrow afternoon.

RADIO FROM DOONHOLM. The local office of the N.Z. Shipping! Co. received a radio message from the Doonholm on Sunday, stating that the vessel was 6CO miles off the New Zealand coast, and expected_ to reach Lyttelton about Thursday morning. The message also stated that the vessel was encountering heavy weather and was only averaging four knots. The Doonholm is bringing -a cargo of Welsh coal from Cardiff lor the New Zealand railways.
