A strong protest wait made regarding the notion of the Education Board in not carrying out the rccomuendationa of the committee concerning necessary repairs to the school. The report was adopted. . The chairman oriticised tho' Board's apparent apathy, stating that complaints made that the infants' department had been flooded had passed unnoticed; In consequence of tho Board's attitudo he wovid not eeek office this year; nor would eomo other members of the old committee.

SYDENHAM. Mr E. L. McKeon presided over «n attendance of over 150 householders. Tho annual report elated that durin? the past year the school had well maintained its high position 'amongst tho primary schools of Canterbury Tho splendid work of the neadmaster and his staff was deserving of tho highest praise. Many noticeable improvements had been mado to the school grounds. In February the annual picnic was held, nearly 1000 scholars and parents attending. Ovc r 1500 square yard of asphalting had been done in the school grounds. The amount expended Xn tho -upkeep of the school exceeded tho incidental allowance bv nearly £IOO and it was only by the efforts of tho echool's staff, scholars, and the committee, that it was possible.to provide everv requirement of tht school and at tho enme "time, finish with a substantial credit balance. New honours boards bad been erected in the main entrance hall of the new school. During the year a. .dental room was opened in the now school, and free treatment was given to all children requiring attention. This important innovation on the part of the Government was deserving of the parents* highest appreciation. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of CHI 15s sd.

Alloy) supported tho motion, advocating UlO compilation of books calculated to last, siy, ten years. The new Director of I'klucation, ho said, was quito capable of producing books far mora satisfactory than the "stuff" now issued.
