A LAUNCH IN DISTRESS.

{press association telegram.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 18. Distress signals from a launch, apparently anchored about three-quarters of a mile off the beach, were noticed this afternoon. A heavy sea was running, and it was impossible to launch a boat, the rough conditions also preventing a life-line being thrown out. Another launch left the to go to the rescue, but returned to-night, and reported that it could hot approach the craft in distress. The identity of the boat has not been ascertained, and darkness closed over its plight without help being possible.
