SHIPPING CONSTRUCTION.
SLUMP IN BRITAIN. (By Cable—Press Association— Copyright.) /Beuter's .telegrams.) LONDON, April 17. "Lloyd's Register" discloses a groat slump in shipping construction. Owing to the fall in freights and strikes, work has been suspended on many vessels under way. Compared with the previous year the tonnage launched for the quarter ended December last, decreased by 140,000, and the tonnage commenced by 113,000, while tho tonnage projected, but not commenced, fell off to the extent of 7o per cent.
