' The Kennedy arrived at Lyttslt-jn early Saturday morning' from We-lling'.on, and is to Bail on the- return trip to-day. The John arrived at Lytte'.ton on Saturday evening from Oamaru. She will complete loading l here to-day for Wanganui, fci*" which port she will sail to-night. The Kittawa was docked at Port Chalmers on Fridav.

The schooner Houto is to load at Dunedin this week for Auckland. ' The Katoa, which arrived at Auckland on Friday, is to leave that port early this week for WellingifcTi, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Wanaka is expected here to-morrow frorii -Timaru to load for Napier and. Gi&borne.

The Moeraki, due at "Wellington this mom:n~ from Sydney,! is bringing 300 passengers. She is expected/ht-re to-morrow morning. The llahani is to leave here to-morrow for Port Chalmer3 to complete discharge of' her London cargo. The Ruap?hu is to leave Wellington tomorrow for Southampton and London, via Panama.'

Mesjis G. H. Scales's newly purchased full rigged ship Pampa. arrived at Wellington ot> Saturday after a smart run oi twenty-six days from Albany. It is interesting to note that tho Pampa made a fine flag-ship at the Lytt-eltoa-regatta.-of .1911.

An arrival at Dunedin on Friday was tho Union Company's cargo steamer Koranui, which is making her first visit to'that port. Formerly a German -6'eamer, and then ko".v "i as the Cleopatra, she is a steel screw vessel of 1215 tons gross register. She was built at Lnbeck (Germany) in 1914, and is of tho following dimensions:—Langth 210 ft 7in, breadth 36ft 2in, and depth 15ft 9in. After discharge the Koranui vfll go to Port Chalmers to undergo overhaul and repairs. RAMA'S ROUGH TRIP. Tlie Chatham Islands steamer Rama arrived here on Saturday morning after an exceedingly rough trip of 72 hours from Waitangi. Th© vessel left the Islands on Tuesday evening, and itamediatoly enecun'ered' a fierce south-westerly gale. The Union Company's cargo steamer Kairan?a, with a full load of coal from Newcastle, arrived; at Wellington on • Saturday (morning, aJid berthed later in the day at the Clyde quay wharf (says the "Post"). The Kairanga left Newcastle «'t 7 a.m. on Friday, April Bth, and' experienced an exceptionally rough trip.. The low barometer, at N<ftvcastle indicated a weatber change for tho worse, and all deck fittings. were lashed down, and everything on deck made snug. By noon on Friday it came on to blow hard from the sculh-wcst, and by suneet the gale.had increased to a cyolfloo. Tho vessel- had been bove-to at -4' p.m. till- next .morning, when conditions were expected to' be easier. However, the night hud more in store for the officers and crow than tho day. At 1 o clock 0.1 Saturday morning the steering gear carried away, both hand and steam, and tho Kairanga was left wallowing in the trough of the seas at the mercy of the waves. Huge seas broke on board, and swept all clear foro and aft. Tho vowel's decks were continuously awash, and the water was up as far as the bridge. After an hour and a half's hard worlc the officers and rfrew effected repairs, and. by 2.30 a.m. ' the vessel was under control. The weather moderated somewhat on Paturdav morning, but heavy seas still broke «'ti board, and kept the decks awash. At 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, however, it bepan to blow a violent gale from the sou'-sou'-east. The Kairanga kept on her course till 4 n.m. on Sunday, when she passed out of the cyclonic disturbance. Her bend was then ti.rned Tdund, and the voyago continued to Wellington. A heow swell was running for the remainder of flic, voyage till Stephen Islarid- was siehted, when the seas moderated. Captain A. LAUNCH COLLIDES WITH WESTRALIA.

D<JNEDIN, April 17. ■ A collision occurred in Victoria channel yesterday between the Ota go Harbour Board'# oli pilot launch and the Huddart-Parker steamer Westralia, -which was "outward-bound for Melbourne. The launch, which was subsequently towed to' Port Chalmers, was in charge of Mr McKenzie. She was used as a pikft boat for many years, but 39 now in the service of the Harbour Board's engineering department. She was badly damaged, and now lies awash alorigsidft one of the punts at Port Chalmeos. After the collision occurred McKemie was asoieted on board the Westralia, and was subsequently landed before the vessel left the harbour. The Weßtralia suffered so damage, and continued her voyage.
