KING'S FUND FOR SAILORS.
(FROII OUE OWN COftHESPON"nK>iT.) LONDON, February 24. ' Sir James Alleii attended the annual meeting of tho King George's Fund for Sailors,.held at the Mansion Houso this week. Cnutain Sir Arthur W. Clarke, who presided, said the total of the fund was now £891,000, and they conlidcntly cxpcctcd that in a very few months it would reach £1,000,000. Sir 11. Acton Blake, in piesentinj; the report ol the Distribution Committee, said that during the past year grants wero allocated to fifty-two institutions. The total • sum distributed amounted to £6l,soo,'lint this included £450!) promised in 1919. Twenty-five thousand pounds had been received from the British Red Cross Society, and £12;()00 from' Sir James Allen, on behalf of the people of New Zealand, for the benefit of the dependants of men killed, and ' wounded in'the Battles of Jutland, Skageraek, and the North Sea. It was proposed to allocate £'-5000 of this sum immediately. , , In presenting the report of the Finance Committee, Sir William Corry said tho fund had increased since December 31st, 1919, by £162,000. of which £36,000 represented interest on investments, the remainder being.donations and annual subscriptions. The total invested capital was-£681",000, and the whole of these investments were in full trustee stocks.
