Although' the whole report on the" work of the Joint War Committee of the British lied Cross Society and the Order of of Jerusalem is not yet in print, an'advance statement has been made of portion of the report of the. Joint W cvr Finance Committee., Xeotitm 11. is a statement of the operas tions of the finance Committee irom October, 1914, to June 30, 15)20. The su miliary of accounts shows tile total receipts to be £21,885,036'; expenditure to bo £20,0.05,365, leaving a surplus at June 30 last of £1,826, The Finance Cofcimittee give an indication of their intentions as to the surplus,, and refer. to recent grants of an experimental nature to test whether certain • s:;hemes for the benefit of disabled ex-S&ldiers can be satisfactorily developed* The cost of collecting' and administering this vast sum at headquarters was just under 4d in the £. Like st vera! other international bodies, the International Committee of the Red Cross/ shortly to meet at Geneva, seems to have a lively prospect aheaa. It is stated that Britain, 1< ranee, and Belgium- have all decided not to send representatives to the meeting, the decision in the case of this country being taken because the Committee failed to lake adequate Bteps after the execution of Nurse Cavell. It is understood that the American rqpresentatiTes are to insist on reading a list of crimes and offence.? charged against th<» German? and against which the Committee, in America's view, shouW have protested. Hj9 general Allied view if? that the central Committee was by .no means very active in its condemnation of German atrocities towards the Red Cross.
