BILLIARDS.
a remarkable performance. A xemarkablc'snooker performance was put uij'a few days ago by the 2>evf Zealand piofassional champion AWE. Stephenson who accomplished what is considered, a world s record clearing tho table in two cues (says the Auckland "Star"): He was < WP Oßed b > C. Roberts, a winner of the Cryetatete Cup, who broke the balls, and then Stephenson made & break of 36, when he played a safety shot. Roberts failed to ecote, and then itephenson went on »and cleared- all the Teds and colours, ainaasing 85 and_ bringing nis total to 121. The precision of the champion s strokes, the dexterity and -ease which he obtained position, was appreciated by a email audience, several of whom haje witnessed previous efforts by Stephenson, pnt none so fine as this. Stephenson has previously srade higher breaks than 85 at snooker, but this is his highest score on a- etandard table under match conditions.
