NEW TELEPHONE SERVICE.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION* TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, April If. . In order to enable Wellington* Blenheim, and Nelson and Christchurch, Blenheim and Nelson to have intercommunication by telephone, the Post-master-General, the Hon J. G. Coates, recently approved of certain telegraph aires being . used for telephonic purposes during the hoilrs they are not required for telegraph work. The necessary regulations have now been prepared and the services will commence jn May Ist. Christchurch, Blenheim, , ; nd Nelson will be enabled to communicate with each other between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. on week-days, and all day Sundays. Services with Wellington will necessarily be confined to the period from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. on week-days and Sundays. This is _ the best .telephone* service that can be given between Wellington and South _lsland stations until a telephone cable is provided across Cook Strait.
