It is tlhought quite likely that a dumber of students hrom overseas may do the research work without actually_ taking tho Ph.D. course, and active measures will be 'taken shortly to bring the research ..schepae to tpe. , notice of Canadian and American universities. / , The Board's, report gives evidence tlhat the high gtandard which Cambridge must insist on is being maintained in the courses of study, fourteen of the Btudents ere graduates of Cambridge itself—an indication that tho degree is neither exotic nor cheap. Up to tlhe present, also; for every applicant admitted four or five have been refused. It is intended: to keep up the high standard and to make tne degree course the most important of its kind in the Emia understood that further research courses pf two years are being planned to lead up to tho degrees of M.Litt. and M.Sc., which may be awards cd either with the Ph.D. or separately. The students are distributed among 18 colleges, and 12 are non-collegiate. The subjects chosen for research are ol' great variety, and they are evenly divided be.tween scientific and literary subjects.
