ALTERATION TO RULES. • • (Received April 14tl>. 11.40 p.m.) LONDON, April 14. The Rules of Golf Oomnlittee ha? notified alterations which will operate as from May Ist. They provide for a standardised ball with a, maximum weight of 1.62 ounces and a minimum diameter of 1.62 inches, xvdacin? the lost ball penalty and increasing the out-of-bounds penalty. The committee announces that ribbed irons ■may bo barred in the near future, after the op->n amateur championships have been decided. Mr Anthony Spalding, writing in the "Daily News," suggests the prohibition of the use of solid or liquid cores as a possible solution of the golf ball problem. CHRISTCHDRCH CLUB.
