Having lost tho training liall at Lancasler Park, the Canterbury Bugby Union has evolved M excellent scheme for night training, ft whome of which tho various clubs ara certain to take advantago. The new idea, which is already being 1 put into operation, is ta take the Christchurch Club's ground, the ' g rE t. to tho right on entering Hagley Park, " and to illuminate it go that practices may ba - held just as though tho ball were being kicked about in broad daylight. To ensura the success °* flU °h a plan, it was, of course, necessary to have the ground brilliantly lkhted, and it ha 3 been decided that lights of 28,009 candle-power will be available. It is understood that tho City Council's tender to provide such power 'will bo accepted, and f!l« cost will run into somewhere about £3OO. f(t is stated that the Council has guaranteed, )f its offer is accepted, to have the powerful lighting of the ground in full swing within fortnight. The Rugby Union has also the erection of a substantial building in view, which will as a pavilion for spectators and a big dressing fihed for players, with the usual t nppurtenance3 of a training shod.
